Parks manager: Waymarked Park demolition under way, bridge delivery imminent and senior-survey hits 151 responses

Heath Luther, the town’s parks manager, updated the council on Waymarked Park and other parks items. "The next step will be here in the next 10 days or so. We'll start working on getting the playground out ... the gazebo ... everything is kinda tidied up," Luther said, describing demolition and contractor work to prepare for construction.
Luther also said a bridge from Knoll Lane to the park should be delivered within the next week or two, and staff will need to set footers before installation. He reported progress on a senior-services survey: "We're sitting at about 151 responses, which is really good. It's about 7.5, 8% of what we kinda gathered through demographic information of people that were 55 and older within the community." He added that a contract renewal for a seasonal operator (referred to as "the sharks") will appear on the next council agenda and that staff is checking scrap prices for old equipment that received no bids.
Council members asked about disposition of surplus equipment and about auction plans; Luther said much of the older equipment may be sold for scrap because removal would require extensive demolition. The council did not take final action on contracts at this meeting but anticipated the lease-renewal item returning at the next meeting.
