Board ratifies $40,350 in remediation payments at 1101 East Beardsley; EPA removed 4,200 tons of soil
Summary
The board ratified $40,350 in partial payments to Roberts Environmental for remediation at 1101 East Beardsley; Adam Fan said the EPA already removed roughly 4,200 tons of soil for high lead levels and the site still requires further excavation for TCE, pushing redevelopment years into the future.

The board ratified partial payment requests (numbers 9–12) totaling $40,350 to Roberts Environmental Services LLC for remediation work at 1101 East Beardsley (the former Con Music Factory). Adam Fan, assistant director of redevelopment, said the EPA recently removed roughly 4,200 tons of soil for high lead levels and noted additional excavation could remove another ~20,000 tons to address TCE contamination.
"We took roughly 4,200 tons of soil out of the site, for high lead levels," Fan said. He told the board that the site will likely be several years from redevelopment because confirmation sampling and remediation must be completed; the current remediation contractor will continue work under the SRF loan (WW22162005). The board approved the partial payments by voice vote.
