Superintendent Jameson Zarecki told the board the High Dive Park pond restoration work party is scheduled with volunteers and that the ribbon cutting for Ori Park (to be renamed Pasley Park) is set for Aug. 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. Zarecki also said the parks' aquatics facilities had faced weather and maintenance challenges but are now fully operational after repairs and staff work.
"I wanna say a big thank you to Nate for helping us through a lot of that," Zarecki said, praising staff and outside sponsors who helped cover higher-than-expected fireworks costs. Events coordinator Liz Detnor reported the summer events season is strong: the farmers market averages about 35 to 40 vendors per week and roughly 2,000 attendees. Detnor recapped recent programs (Art Walk, two movies in the park with attendances of 107 and 230) and listed upcoming events, including movie nights and the Pasley Park ribbon cutting on Aug. 8.
Zarecki and Detnor said Roosevelt basketball court renovations are nearly complete (paving done; poles expected in a few weeks) and thanked volunteers and partner organizations for supporting recent beautification and planting efforts.
