Matthew Moyers, presenting the proposal, said the policy addresses logistical problems when out-of-town tournament organizers cannot meet the board's advance-notice timeline. "We would like to have the opportunity to accept those rentals under very limited conditions," Moyers said, explaining that Riverview is a gated facility where admissions are comparatively easy to manage. The policy disallows competing concession sales that would undercut department concessions.
A motion to adopt the softball-field rental admission and merchandise exception (policy 3020) was moved, seconded and carried unanimously. Board members described the new authority as a trial that could be extended to other amenities if it proves beneficial and manageable.
