Community Services Supervisor Thomas outlined plans for the 12th annual Get Out and Play Day on Saturday, July 25, noting activities at 16 locations citywide. The event lineup includes paddleboard, kayak and canoe rides with the Cal Poly Aquatic Center, pickleball at Highland Park, free admission to the Sequoia Park Zoo for kids 12 and under, a skate competition, family activities, a free bucket of golf balls for the first 20 kids at the golf course, and a public screening of The Goonies at Sequoia Park that evening.
Thomas emphasized an expanded partnership this year with the Redwood Coast Regional Center to incorporate Disability Pride Fest into the Get Out and Play Day schedule, including ASL and Spanish interpretation to increase accessibility.
