"This is now our 8th time advertising for general engineering services," the Agency official said, framing the procurement as an evolution of past contracts. He emphasized that, unlike a single large award, the three-contract structure is intended to increase flexibility and allow TDOT to tap firms that can mobilize quickly and perform across disciplines. The official added that the top six firms will be invited to presentations in a window three weeks after shortlisting, with an award recommendation targeted for September 2026.
TDOT said it will not guarantee an equal split of funds among the three firms; instead, task orders will be issued to the firm that can deliver required resources in the needed timeframe. "We're gonna work who can provide the resource to the department," the Agency official said, describing a sequence of outreach TDOT will use when a rapid need arises.
