The public works director briefed the board on two IDOT-led projects. Regarding the Southwest Highway work between 131st and 135th Street, Mayor Jim Dodge said IDOT "is working diligently to get the project back on track after it was stalled due to poor soil conditions and the redesign of the 131st Street Bridge." Officials did not provide a revised completion date.
Trustees also heard that the 143rd Street and John Humphrey Drive improvement project has been paused because of several utility issues. Village staff said they are coordinating with contractors and IDOT to resume construction as soon as possible.
