Council staff told the joint Government Operations & Fiscal Policy and Public Safety committees that a March 13 County Executive amendment to the FY27–32 Capital Improvements Program reduces the county radio replacement project’s expenditures by $2,600,000 by removing duplicate entries for 55 police radio replacements in FY28 and spreading replacements across the six-year schedule. "This amendment is actually reducing expenditures by 2,600,000 and it's spreading the expenditures out," council staff said during the session.
The chair asked for questions and none were raised; the joint committees accepted council staff’s recommendation to move the amendment forward to the full council. The committees treated the change as a scheduling correction rather than a program cancellation and offered no additional changes at the session. The amendment will be considered by the full council under the FY27–32 CIP process.
