On July 20 the Geneva-on-the-Lake Village Council approved Resolution 2026-50, an updated/alternative annual tax budget for tax year 2026 to be submitted to the Ashtabula County Auditor. Council then read two separate resolutions seeking auditor certification under Ohio Revised Code §5705.03: Resolution 2026-51 requests a renewal levy of 1.5 mills for five years to fund streets, roads and bridges; Resolution 2026-52 requests a new/additional levy of 1.99 mills for five years for the Police Department.
Each resolution was advanced as an emergency measure: Council Member Macchia moved to waive the three-reading rule, Council President Caudill seconded, and roll-call votes were unanimous. The resolutions request certification only; they initiate the process of placing levies before voters (or otherwise completing certification steps) and do not by themselves impose taxes. No specific election date or estimated revenue amounts beyond the millage were recorded in the transcript.
