The Canton Public School District Board approved a package of personnel actions at the Jan. 14 meeting, covering leaves of absence, resignations, transfers and hiring.
Approved leave requests include Yoland Grant and others with specified date ranges; resignations accepted include Helen Owens (effective Jan. 6, 2025) and Deaundra Everett (effective Dec. 10, 2024). The board approved the reassignment of Otha Ollie from cafeteria worker at McNeal Elementary to Cafeteria Manager in Training and approved hiring Nieca Ard as Cafeteria Manager for the period Jan. 15, 2025—5/30/2025 to replace Deaundra Everett. Motion to approve items 12.1—12.10 was made by Mr. Peter Brown and seconded by Dr. Shivochie Dinkins; recorded votes were unanimous Aye.
