Canton trustees award four‑year food service contract to Elior, approve school insurance

The Canton Public School District Board of Trustees voted on June 10 to award the district’s food management contract for July 1, 2025–June 30, 2029 to Elior and to approve property and casualty coverage through the Mississippi School Boards Association for the 2025–26 school year. The motions were moved and seconded and passed with all trustees voting in favor.
Board members considered the two items together under agenda section 8.1–8.2. The motions were introduced by Mr. Peter Brown and seconded by Mr. Glen Lacey; the transcript records unanimous ‘Aye’ votes by Chair Johnny Brown, Vice‑Chair Lenderrick Taylor, Dr. Jacqueline Griffin, Mr. Peter Brown and Mr. Glen Lacey. The insurance matter was described in the agenda as the district’s Property Insurance Trust and Casualty Insurance Trust through the Mississippi School Boards Association for 2025–26; the food service contract covers district meal management for a four‑year term beginning July 1, 2025.
