Burlington board approves staff-evaluation contract and a slate of policy updates

The Burlington Public Schools Board of Education on Feb. 16 unanimously approved an OKTLE contract to guide staff evaluations for the 2026–27 school year and voted to adopt a series of updated policies.
Board President Terry Graham moved to approve the OKTLE contract; Lindsey Callison seconded the motion and it passed 5–0. The board also approved policy EHA-R3, updates to policy FE including the open transfer policy (noted as SB 783 on the agenda), the epinephrine policy FFACA-E2, policies under FFG (and related exhibits FFG-B and FFG-E), FO, and multiple FOD-series items. Several motions were moved and seconded by board members across the meeting and each vote recorded a unanimous 5–0 outcome.
Superintendent Gerrett Spears told the board no salary or duty changes were included in a separate FY26 addendum to his contract; the addendum clarified contractual language as requested by the state department and was approved without dissent. Board President Terry Graham closed the executive-session compliance announcement by saying, "In executive session we only discussed the items listed on the agenda. Nothing else was discussed and no votes were taken." The board signed contracts and adjourned at 8:42 p.m.
