Trustees defer election of officers to next meeting after initial motion

At its March 18, 2025 regular meeting, the Canton Public School District Board voted to keep current officers but then voted to withdraw that motion and defer officer elections to the next board meeting.
The Canton Public School District Board of Trustees initially voted to keep the existing officers in their current positions during the regular meeting on March 18, 2025. Trustee Peter Brown moved to keep the board’s current composition; the motion passed by majority vote.
Shortly afterward, Mr. Brown moved to withdraw his earlier motion and to postpone the election of officers until the next board meeting. Mr. Glen Lacey seconded the withdrawal motion, which also passed by majority vote. The board did not record any further changes to officer assignments; current officers remain: Johnny Brown, chair; Lenderrick Taylor, vice-chair; and Dr. Jacqueline Griffin, secretary.
