Central Vo-Tech offers local CLEET certification; Bristow eyes officer training support

Police Chief Kendra Raney introduced Jason Littlefield of Central Vo‑Tech, who described a CLEET certification training program for law-enforcement recruits. Littlefield said the program runs 694 hours (longer than a referenced Ada program) and uses instructors from Highway Patrol, the OSBI, the Attorney General’s Office and the FBI. He said classes typically hold 24 students and 14 students are already signed up for the next class.
Littlefield explained municipalities can both sponsor officers and accept self‑pay students; the council discussed sending two officers and noted one officer’s training could be covered by a grant, with the city responsible only for testing costs. Littlefield affirmed, "Yes, this is the real Cleet training," when asked about certification equivalency.
