Council to revisit 8th Street railroad crossing closure; seeks Watco clarification

Councilmembers told the Bristow City Council they had received multiple letters from residents about the proposed closure of the 8th Street railroad crossing and asked that the July 1 motion be rescinded for further study. Councilmember Randy Witty moved to resend the earlier motion that closed the 8th Street crossing and to pursue a more detailed traffic study before final action.
Mayor Kris Wyatt told the council she would contact Watco to clarify whether closing one crossing entitles the city to upgrades at three crossings or, if multiple closures, upgrades at all crossings; councilmembers also requested a small working group (three councilmembers plus the mayor and a resident) meet with Watco to resolve outstanding questions before the item returns to the agenda.
