Council reports lifeguard certifications, youth camp enrollment and National Night Out details

Council member Jasmine Wareham credited township management, the recreation superintendent and Mr. Laffey for arranging certification for four lifeguard applicants, saying the action will help maintain lifeguard coverage during the summer season.
"They provided a certification, for 4 applicants to get certified so we can continue to have no issues with providing lifeguards at the pool for the rest of the summer season," Wareham said. The council noted the pool opening was delayed but that staffing steps addressed the immediate concern.
Mayor Frank Sipple reported the police youth camp started that day; he described it as a five-day program in its ninth year, free to participants. He said 135 children signed up but the program is capped at 60. The mayor also reminded residents that National Night Out will be held on August 4 at Lower Township Regional High School; exact times were not specified during the meeting.
Council members also praised rapid repairs to a Bay Outfall and noted the VFW will be the nonprofit at an upcoming concert to raise funds for care packages for service members.
