Board approves consent agenda, tables FY26 athletic supplements

The Canton Public School District Board approved items on the consent agenda (11.1—11.9) covering special-education teacher recommendations for Extended School Year (ESY), summer work schedules for staff, Pre-K and Kindergarten handbooks for 2025-26, travel approvals, a Summer School Feeding Program, and specific purchases including a dishwasher for Nichols Middle School not to exceed $30,000. The board voted to table item 11.3 (FY26 athletic supplements) on a motion by Mr. Lenderrick Taylor seconded by Dr. Jaqueline/Jaqueline Griffin; the remainder of the consent agenda was approved in a subsequent motion by Mr. Glen Lacey seconded by Mr. Peter Brown.
The consent approval also set ESY pay rates included in the minutes: teacher assistants $25.00/hour; teachers $35.00/hour; counselors $35.00/hour; administrators $50.00/hour; security guards $25.00/hour; cafeteria manager $30.00/hour; cafeteria workers $25.00/hour. The dishwasher purchase for Nichols Middle School was authorized not to exceed $30,000 (Exhibit 11.8).
