Calera’s council approved using insurance proceeds and department funds to rebuild Fire Station 5 and authorized Texoma Millwright to complete the work. Staff reported a $28,000 estimate for the rebuild; insurance is covering $23,000 and the county is covering the remainder so the city will not incur a cost. Minutes state Texoma Millwright was the only contractor to submit a bid during the timeframe allotted by insurance, and the insurance check has already been received.
The motion passed with four yes votes and one abstention: yes votes from Bobby Dooney, Cheryl Johnson, Brian Norton and Jake Trujillo; Brenton Rucker recorded an abstention in the minutes.
