Canton board defers officer election to next meeting after procedural motions

Trustee Peter Brown moved that the Canton Public School District Board of Trustees remain in their current positions at the start of the March 18, 2025 meeting. The motion passed by majority vote, with the minutes recording unanimous "Aye" votes from trustees Johnny Brown, Lenderrick Taylor, Dr. Jacqueline Griffin, Peter Brown and Glen Lacey.
Shortly after, Peter Brown moved to withdraw that motion and to postpone the election of officers until the board’s next meeting. Trustee Glen Lacey seconded the withdrawal and the motion to defer; the board again recorded unanimous "Aye" votes and the election was set to be considered at the subsequent meeting. The actions were procedural and no changes to the officers were made at the March 18 meeting.
