Superintendent Gerrett Spears provided a summary of recent and upcoming athletics and extracurricular activities, saying the district is “really happy with all of our programs and the growth we have seen.” He recapped the junior high tournament at Cherokee, the HS Pioneer tournament scheduled for Dec. 4–6, and an elementary festival that raised approximately $2,800.
Spears noted the Timberlake elementary game was moved to Dec. 17 and will be played at home with PTO concessions. The board confirmed Pink Out night on Dec. 9 for the South Barber game; Spears said the high school girls will wear pink jerseys to highlight breast cancer survivors. He also noted a current wait list for the New Years Invitational tournament and said the seeding meeting will be Dec. 10.
The board took no formal vote on athletics scheduling at the meeting but directed staff to finalize brackets and logistics for upcoming tournaments.
