The borough’s Environmental Commission reported that biocontrol weevils were released in Lenape Park to help control the invasive mile-a-minute vine. S5 (Committee member) said volunteers observed early feeding behavior and a plan for an additional, limited release to expand coverage.
S5 described the insects as tiny but effective: "If you see it and it's got a bunch of holes in the leaves... that's because these are rockers helping control," S5 said. A subcommittee will coordinate follow-up monitoring across jurisdictions to evaluate effectiveness in the coming seasons.
