Frenchtown reports DOT grant submissions for street resurfacing and Safe Routes work

Staff updated the board on transportation grant work and Safe Routes engineering. S9 (Committee member) said the borough applied for discretionary aid from the state DOT to complete resurfacing on Lower 7th Street and 7th–12th Streets but DOT required curb-ramp upgrades before resurfacing can proceed. The borough also applied for resurfacing of 3rd, 4th and 5th Streets and sidewalk improvements tied to a Safe Routes program.
S3 (Staff member) said DOT returned recommendations and engineering firms are hashing final details; if permits and right-of-way signatures are secured the board’s goal is to have design recommendations finalized by year end with construction likely next year. Letters of support were noted from county commissioners and the Frenchtown School.
