Borough manager announces upcoming public hearing, trainings and a letter of support for PennDOT grant

Borough Manager Cindy Wells presented a range of calendar items and community events to Union City Borough Council on Aug. 27 and asked councilors to attend where possible.
Wells said an EMS meeting is scheduled for Aug. 28 at Fort LeBoeuf, and Devereaux Day — a kickoff promoting park and trail improvements and the Erie-to-Pittsburgh Trail Head — is set for Sept. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. She noted Representative Banta, a representative for Senator Dan Laughlin, County Executive Brenton Davis, and Jessica Horan with Erie County Planning had been invited to the Devereaux Day event. Wells also said the council would hold a public hearing for an amendment to the zoning ordinance at the Sept. 16 meeting (the hearing will be advertised twice as required) and that council would vote on an amendment to the parking ordinance at the same meeting. A meeting to present health insurance plans to council members is scheduled for Sept. 25 at 5:30 p.m. at the City Building. Free Community Emergency Response Team training is scheduled for Sept. 27–29, and the Erie County Firefighters Association safety awards dinner is Sept. 27 at 6:00 p.m. Wells also reported the borough will send a letter of support for a PennDOT Charging & Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program application along the U.S. Route 6 corridor.
Wells said the towing ordinance will not be advertised for bids. The minutes record these announcements as informational and do not indicate additional council action at this meeting beyond directing advertising and scheduling steps where required.
