Union City backs Erie County plan to develop comprehensive housing strategy

Union City Borough Council unanimously approved a resolution Sept. 16 supporting Erie County's process to develop a new countywide comprehensive housing plan. The county will use MAP grant funds and Act 137 (Affordable Housing Act) funds derived from housing deed transfers to develop recommendations aimed at improving housing quality and affordability.
Councilor Osborn moved and Councilor Steadman seconded the resolution; the motion carried unanimously. Councilors noted that several borough residents have submitted applications for Act 137 funds, which the county administers based on income eligibility.
Council took no additional funding commitments beyond the resolution of support; staff said the county will lead the plan and allocate MAP and Act 137 funds per county procedures.
