Union City to advertise change allowing repeat tenant-registration fines for noncompliance

The Union City Borough Council voted unanimously Sept. 16 to advertise a proposed amendment to the tenant-registration ordinance that would allow violators to be charged more than once a year when they do not provide required information.
Borough Manager Cindy Wells presented the change and explained the amendment is intended to improve compliance with registration requirements. As described at the meeting: "Requesting to change the Tenant Registration to allow violators to be charged more than once a year when not providing required information." Councilor Steadman moved to advertise the amendment; Councilor Osborn seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council's vote authorizes publication of the proposed ordinance language for public review and sets the matter up for a future public hearing and final action.
