Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips described a sinkhole at Municipal Lot #1 that requires replacing a 24" clay tile, reconnecting pipes, installing a larger catch basin and replacing roughly 10 feet of pipe.
Phillips said engineers and contractors recommended lining pipes in four sections and specific replacement steps; two estimates were presented (Mansfield $22,295; McLallen Construction $23,450). Councilor Steadman moved and Councilor Osborn seconded a motion "to have Mansfield replace approximately 10' of pipe, install new larger catch basin, reconnect all pipes, and close the sinkhole at the cost of $22,295.00," which the council approved unanimously. Streets staff will provide a truck during the project as required by the contractors.
