A Takoma Park Library representative reported the new facility’s first-year usage and thanked county partners for support. "We've been open about 7 months. We opened 09/15/2025. We've checked out more than 47,000 items," the representative said, and added that the library created more than 1,800 new accounts and hosted roughly 200 programs with about 5,000 attendees.
Council staff said the county executive recommends an $17,780 increase from the FY26 operating budget (an 8.04% increase) pursuant to a formula in county code; council staff recommended approval and the committee granted it without objection. Committee members congratulated Takoma Park staff on outreach and circulation gains and asked to visit the new facility during the summer.
