Council backs family wave-pool passes, hears Salt Trail tourism visioning offer

Amanda Livingston of Smyth County Tourism and visiting partners described a free, 14-month visioning and action-plan process to help make the Salt Trail an economic engine similar to other regional trails. The visitors said they will work with a town committee to engage the community, prioritize actions, and provide an action plan for one- to three-year goals. The town welcomed the assistance and Sauls indicated his committee could collaborate on trail planning.
The council approved the family-pass pricing (Mr. Sauls abstained on the vote) and asked staff to coordinate community engagement for trail planning and to report back with recommendations for implementation and funding opportunities.
