At its June 10 meeting the Saltville Town Council voted to amend Sec. 2-21 of the municipal code to change committee names: the Committee on library, historical and cultural matters, and health and beautification will now be called Historical & Beautification; the Committee on police, fire, and rescue squad will now be called Public Safety. The ordinance amendment was presented and adopted with a roll call vote.
The change is nominal and intended to simplify committee titles; the ordinance language retains the mayor’s authority to assign committee chairs and to define committee responsibilities. The amendment was adopted and took effect immediately.
