The Public Works Committee on May 11 approved forwarding a purchase of a third pump for the South Slope Lift Station to the City Council, with an authorization up to $127,610.
Josh Boldt explained the lift station—located at the entrance to the Horseshoe Pond Campground—currently operates on two pumps and the additional pump would serve as a backup. "This lift station currently operates on two pumps, the third pump would operate as a backup for protection," Jenn Schwoob said. Finance sources were identified: $85,508 from interest earnings and $35,251 from equipment funding. Collister moved and Lyon seconded the recommendation; the motion carried 2-0.
The committee recorded that funds would be shifted within the Wastewater CIP to cover the purchase and directed staff to proceed with the procurement steps necessary to place the item before City Council.
