The Maquoketa Public Works Committee on May 11 voted to recommend that City Council accept a $500,000 ECIA RPA 8 trail grant for the Maquoketa Summit Loop Reconstruction Project.
Josh Boldt told the committee the City reapplied this spring and “was awarded the $500,000 for this same project,” and that the total project is estimated at about $650,000. Boldt said the local match will come from excess funds in the Platt Street Fund. Committee member Josh Collister moved the recommendation and Chair Mark Lyon seconded; the motion carried 2-0.
The committee’s recommendation means the grant award will be placed on an upcoming City Council agenda for final acceptance and appropriation of the local match. No public comment was recorded during the committee meeting. If the council approves the grant, staff will return with any required contract documents and appropriation details.
