The Detroit City Council voted to adopt Resolution 689, which the budget officer described as the supplemental budget for fiscal year '2526. The officer read the resolution language and the legal standard, citing ORS 294.471 as permitting the governing body to make a supplemental budget when unanticipated revenues are available or prompt action is required.
"Whereas the city of Detroit is required to supplement the budget for 2526 fiscal year in order to recognize both additional revenues and expenditures," the budget officer read aloud while presenting the attached summary. The summary, the officer said, shows $50,000 added to general fund revenue and expenditures and $50,000 added to street fund revenue and expenditures to reflect the House Bill 5204 award tied to the December 17, 2025 windstorm.
Council members moved and seconded adoption of Resolutions 688 and 689 together; the chair closed the public hearing after no one from the public stepped forward to testify and called the vote. The motion passed by voice vote. The council instructed staff to record the new line items and incorporate the changes into the FY '2526 budget documents.
