Council green‑lights park events, hears mural proposal and updates on local projects

Councilmember Kathy Burrier said the Strasburg PTG requested the park for a Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 15; the council approved the request and set village Trick-or-Treat for Oct. 31 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Mayor Bruce Metzger read Village Administrator Mike Rosenberry’s update that the soccer field parking lot is complete with a split‑rail fence to follow, the 6th Street crosswalk will be striped and signed this week, and Camera & Wi‑Fi installation (Wood Electric) is about 50% complete.
Don Gerber proposed a wing mural and military flags for the green space; the mayor said the north-side building owner is in favor and Synergy Signs has offered to produce the mural. The mayor also reported coordination with Omni Fiber on repairing road holes left by utility work, a press-box electrical survey scheduled Aug. 21, and a planned inaugural Strasburg Pickleball Classic fundraiser in October. Council agreed to move forward on the park use and several maintenance items noted in the administrator’s report.
