Council approves park fencing and crosswalk work; resident raises tree-root concerns at new lot

The Strasburg Village Council approved a $4,000 fence for the soccer parking area and authorized $5,200 for crosswalk painting and signage at Williams Village and Tiger Drive. The approvals were made by roll call votes after recommendations from Village Administrator Mike Rosenberry; council also approved related park equipment purchases and field repairs requested by the Park Committee.
During public comment, resident Brandon Dailey provided photos and said the parking lot behind his Railroad Avenue home cut into roots of a tree on his property. Mayor Bruce Metzger said grindings will be used as the base for the lot now, paving will come later, and the previously approved fence will be set one foot off the property line. Legal Counsel Terry Seeberger said that cutting roots that cross a property line can constitute trespass, but he expressed the opinion the tree will be okay. No formal corrective action was voted.
