Strasburg reviews purchase of used 2021 Horton ambulance for $170,000

Fire Chief Jason Ely presented the council with details and photos of a used 2021 Horton ambulance offered for $170,000, including the load system and a power cot. Ely said the vehicle has 7,556 miles, transported approximately 100 patients, and has two paint chips on the right rear corner; he described it as a clean truck that could be taken into immediate possession.
Ely told the council the used ambulance would cost less than half the price of a new ambulance and recommended the village consider the purchase to shorten wait times for new vehicles. He said the department could sell truck 1211 and apply those proceeds toward the purchase. Legal Counsel Terry Seeberger was directed to prepare a resolution for the council to consider at the Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025 meeting; no final purchase vote occurred at the July 31 special session.
