At the July 22 meeting staff presented details about a prefabricated community restroom near the veterans field and farmers market. Joe (staff member) said the unit will have timed access (automatic unlock in the morning and lock at night), CCTV for safety, water-filling stations and a storage closet for the market; the sewer will be pumped to the street to accommodate shallow utilities.
Joe said the restroom will likely open seasonally from around 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. until dusk and that custodial checks are scheduled daily because the buildings division has added a second-shift staff member. "So with that, there'll be the ability to automatically unlock it at a certain time in the morning and then automatically lock it in a certain time at night," Joe said. Staff also said they have applied for grant funding to install rooftop solar and expect to remove on-site shipping containers when the permanent unit opens.
