Council adopts multiple property-abatement resolutions, tables a few cases for later

The Bristow City Council on Aug. 5 adopted a series of resolutions ordering abatement of weeds, trash, debris and dilapidated structures at multiple properties across the city. Among the actions were Resolution R1398-080524 and R1399-080524 addressing 506 E. Jackson St. (Billy G. Leatherwood), Resolution R1400-080524 for 620 E. 6th Ave. (Bessie M. Skaggs), Resolution R1401-080524 for the eastern end of 8th Avenue (Joanne Minus & Brazelle Kirkpatrick c/o Jenelle Barrens), and Resolution R1402-080524 for 628 E. 8th Ave. (Bonnie Oaks LLC. % Premier Inc.).
Several other abatement items were either tabled to the Aug. 19 meeting (including the property commonly known as 1405 S. Cedar St.) or the council took no action on some cases. Each adopted resolution was approved by roll call as recorded in the meeting minutes. The resolutions initiate municipal abatement processes that commonly require notice to property owners and city follow-up to complete weed removal, trash pickup or structural remediation under applicable city code.
