The Kenosha Finance Committee approved a correction July 20 to reverse a $140 special charge that had been applied to the wrong address. Gary Roberts, Director of Inspections, told the committee the error was caused by an automated address-range selection: “it pulled the range of the address as a duplex... and somehow or another, the system chose 02 which was across the street and put the wrong charge on.”
Staff characterized the item as a clerical/system error rather than a dispute over whether the work had been done; the committee opened the item for public hearing, heard no speakers, and approved rescinding the charge 4–0. The committee did not ask staff to perform additional audits beyond correcting the single assessed charge noted during the meeting.
