Wellness foundation says school mental-health program served 82 students and runs 400 weekly senior meals

Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, told the Eden Plus City Council the foundation’s school-based mental-health program has served 82 students this school year, including 62 at Enumclaw High School, nine at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain.
"We have served a total of 82 students, which is amazing," Verhus said, and described year-over-year changes in a behavioral-incident metric (an average incidence figure the foundation tracks) and a small increase in average GPA among participating students.
Verhus also described the foundation’s senior hot-meals program, saying it currently serves 66 regular seniors and has provided more than 80 seniors meals year-to-date. "There’s about 400 meals prepared from scratch each week," she said, and the program relies on roughly 87 volunteers who shop, prepare and deliver meals.
Council members asked no substantive questions during the presentation. Verhus thanked the city for past support and invited councilors to contact her or the foundation with follow-up questions.
