At the July 7 meeting Chief Hannum introduced new City of Jacksonville Police Officer Emily Kaselonis; Recorder Angela Watson administered the oath and Officer Kaselonis' father pinned her badge. Chief Hannum then introduced Officer Nelson, who was sworn in as a new Police Sergeant; Sergeant Nelson thanked the council for their support.
Sergeant Nelson recognized Officer Fuhrman as the first Jacksonville officer to earn DPSST firearm instructor certification and presented a red police officer cap as a token of appreciation. The council and attendees acknowledged the officers' service and the role of department hiring and training in public safety.
