Chair reported the county budget was finalized after collaboration with the treasurer and department heads and that a budget memo outlining revenue and expense changes was drafted and distributed. A special meeting to adopt the budget was scheduled for Dec. 30.
During salary-board action earlier that day, the board approved a 2% COLA for county employees. Chair said the direct wage cost of the COLA is about $41,000 with approximately $3,000 in FICA, placing the total county cost under $45,000. "We approved a 2 percent COLA increase for county employees that is reflected in the budget… The overall costs the county will have due to the 2 percent increase in wages is less than $45,000," Chair said.
