County housing-rehab program caps waiting list after state funding fails to materialize

I'm gonna close the program." Commissioners acknowledged the difficulty of preserving the waiting list without new funding and discussed setting a cap to avoid misleading applicants. No new county-wide funding was committed at the meeting; the board advised residents to contact county staff for status updates and the program manager said she will only provide applications when an applicant moves close enough to the top of the list to expect work within six months.
Next steps noted by the board include monitoring state budget developments and continuing the current local program while preparing for possible funding reductions. The emergency salary and retirement meetings scheduled for Dec. 4 were unrelated to housing and address personnel and pension matters.
