Commissioner reports: Core Connect round 2 submitted; broadband task force stands down as BEAT moves to round two

Commissioner James said the Core Connect group submitted the county’s round-2 broadband application and that roughly 8% of locations were removed from the round-1 submission; James said there was less than a 10% difference between round-1 and round-2 applications. He reported that BEAT (broadband program) is moving into round 2, reducing the need for a standalone county broadband task force, and that an AI task force has been formed to address overlapping issues.
James also briefed commissioners on regional coordination for continuing health-summit work and said conversations will continue with stakeholders to decide which organizations will lead follow-up activities. The report included updates on a program in Erie that helps entrepreneurs with prototyping and intellectual-property protections.
