Planning manager Tim Hartless presented a staff recommendation and background on a rezoning request at 1110 Churchville Avenue. "This is a request by William K. McAllister to rezone 1110 Churchville Avenue from B-1 local business to R-3 medium density residential," Hartless said, noting the structure was originally built as a single-family home and has been used commercially in recent decades.
Hartless told council that the planning commission held a public hearing on June 18, received no opposition, and unanimously recommended approval. Owner William McAllister told council he intends to return the building to residential use. Councilor Campbell moved to adopt the ordinance consistent with the planning commission recommendation; Councilor Woods seconded and the roll call vote carried.
The council record shows the motion carried by roll call; Mayor Edwards and the council recorded affirmative votes. Staff noted that a building permit will be required to change the building code use group from business to residential following rezoning.
