Council approves higher Heritage Center rental fees to bring facility in line with regional rates

Jason Clark, manager of the Heritage Theater and Festival Hall, presented a revised fee schedule intended to align the city's rates with comparable regional venues. Clark said the facility rates were increased on a per-square-foot and per-seat basis and that the new schedule includes sound and lighting technician fees for performances.
"We have decided to do it by square foot because then we're literally comparing apples to apples," Clark said, explaining the shift in methodology and the removal of some rehearsal discounts for peak days. Council members said they were largely satisfied, noting they will watch the numbers and marketing results over time to ensure community groups are not priced out. Council approved the fee schedule by roll call and the city attorney and staff will return with related waiver language as discussed.
