Supervisors weigh park improvements and address construction encroachment, pond algae

Supervisors reported routine operations and site issues at the Sept. 17 meeting, including a request to install an additional bench at Paleo Park and staff follow-up on construction encroaching on conservation/EDRA areas near Pond 16.
"From the tee box, it seems that construction is encroaching on the EDRA and significant damage was done to the bank in the EDRA," Supervisor Michael Walsh said, asking staff to monitor the site and address homeowner responsibility as work continues. Grounds Superintendent Tim Gatz will meet with Supervisor Carol Vaughan to determine bench placement and will follow up on the reported encroachment and irrigation repairs (staff reported a temporary dam on Hole 11 to address a break).
Separately, the board discussed algae issues in Ponds 7, 5 and 11. District Manager Chuck Adams said he will request a proposal from another contractor with experience treating problematic irrigation holding ponds in the area. No contract award was made at the meeting; staff will return with proposals and recommendations.
