Joel Bouvier reported a longstanding line-of-sight safety concern at the second of the twin bridges at Route 116 and Lincoln Road, saying he had driven the intersection over the weekend and was "unable to see an oncoming car." He urged the Board to send a formal letter to the Vermont Agency of Transportation rather than continuing to assume changes would be denied.
Chair Ian Albinson summarized findings from a prior safety and traffic study that identified options including a costly road reconfiguration ("in the millions"), warning technology at the stop sign, and shifting the stop sign to the right as the least expensive option to improve the sightline. The Board agreed the intersection is dangerous with frequent near misses and that the matter should be raised with the state again; Albinson said he would locate the earlier study and present options to the Board.
