The Mossyrock City Council adopted Resolution 2025-06 to approve placement of a time capsule on city property to be opened on the town's Tricentennial in 2076. Thomas Meade of the Historical Society discussed the project and recommended placing the capsule in front of City Hall at a depth of about 2 feet; the Historical Society suggested a capsule rated for long underground life. Mayor Randall Sasser said he would like to donate $1,000 toward the project pending the council's approval, and the council recorded a motion and second to adopt the resolution.
Mayor Sasser also suggested including an item representing the Cowlitz Tribe to commemorate local history. In closing remarks the mayor reflected on appreciation for staff: "Here in the U.S. when you ask someone how their day was they say good. When he was in Africa when you ask someone how their day is they go into complete detail. As deep as when they put their shoes on or a whole routine of day to day. He includes that when he says he appreciates people it really comes from his heart."
