Commissioner highlights EPA‑backed program to reimburse homeowners for failing sewage systems in Upper Bay of Terrebonne

Commissioner Thibodeaux informed the commission about a homeowner assistance program for residents along Upper Bay of Terrebonne whose residential sewage systems are inoperable. He said the Barataria‑Terrebonne National Estuary Program, in partnership with the Louisiana University Marine Consortium and South Central Planning and Development Commission, is working with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to reimburse homeowners to repair home sewage systems along Upper Bay of Terrebonne.
Thibodeaux said the program covers only residential, owner‑occupied properties (not commercial or rental properties) and encouraged eligible homeowners to contact South Central Planning for details. "I would encourage anyone along the corridor who has an inoperable or improperly operating sewer system... to call South Central Planning and find out about this wonderful program," he said.
