Commission approves removing a long‑planned connector from the master thoroughfare plan
Summary

Cynthia Pellegrin, representing owner Eric Nguyen, asked the commission to remove a future road designation shown on a 2005 plat that would have extended South Hollywood Road through Venture Boulevard and terminated at Equity Boulevard. Pellegrin told the commission the owner intends to place the property on the market and that "the proposed route can no longer function as a continuous transportation corridor" because structures now block the planned alignment.
Staff advised the commission that the parcel was part of a raw land division in 2005 and that planning staff and engineering have concluded the cross street is no longer necessary. Staff described the map as "a road to nowhere" on the current aerial and recommended removing the proposed street designation from the plat and revising the master thoroughfare plan. Commissioner Billiat asked whether removing the designation would make the property more marketable; staff agreed. Commissioner Billiat moved to accept staff’s recommendation, Commissioner Rogers seconded, and the commission voted to approve the removal and to initiate a master plan revision.
